Carbon Conversations – a friendly facilitated short course exploring the meaning of climate change and how to halve your personal carbon footprint, starting on Monday 23rd January 7-9pm in Lamlash Fire Station. We start with a welcome meeting on 14th January, at 11am in Lamlash Fire Station. Those who wish to take part in the group will be asked to contribute £5 towards the cost of materials, with Arran Community Land Initiative supporting the balance with funding from the Climate Challenge Fund. Planned dates for the discussion group are Mondays 7-9pm on 23rd Jan., 6th & 27th Feb., 13th & 27th Mar., and 3rd Apr. all at the Lamlash Fire Station. Volunteer Day – these take place on the second Saturday of the month with the first one for 2017 on Saturday 14th January from 10-12. Meet at the barn in the community garden/allotment area. There is parking available up the land track on Golf Course Road (however the track is quite bumpy with fresh hard core at present due to recent repairs from storm damage so volunteers may prefer to park at the Golf Club car park and walk along – 3 minute walk).
Family Group – these take place on the first Saturday of the month with the first one for 2017 on Saturday 7th January from 10-12. Fun activities and free outdoor play is availablefor all ages. The session leader is Jennifer MacDonald. Children must be accompanied by an adult and it is advisable to bring waterproofs and wellies!
Composting Workshop – Let’s make this beautiful island even greener by composting our kitchen scraps and turning it into rich soil and dressings for our gardens/veg. patches rather than it going to landfill. Long-term you can save £££££ not buying in bagged compost! This workshop will take place on Saturday 21st January 2017 and will be led by Ceilidh Keyworth. She will guide you through ways and means of composting and it is guaranteed that you will come away with useful knowledge to get started!
